Immersion Chapter 6 Trouble at the Bank

The fat droid gives Renyke a nudge into the cubical.
Renyke is tall, he barely feels it, but it was a sign of something predatory and dangerous. The memory file may well have been surplus to his new life, but something warned him against selling it. Intuition was not something Renyke had felt before and it confused things for a moment. But the brutish droid should not be given any advantage and there was no time to get existential.

'I just checked, 'the file is corrupted and I have nothing else,' said Renyke, trying to make his way out of the building.

Two men approached, cornering him in the cubical.
They were huge burley droids, older models with exposed metal plates on their scarred faces that had seen better days. They had size on their side so Renyke checked the OS for others in the room.

The woman who had brought him to the bank leaves hurriedly.

One of the droids got really close and asked, 'You gotta have something useful for the boys at the bank. We like useful things. Must be something nice in that lil head of yours. What's in the bag? We take anything, old phones even. Anything with data, storage, NFTs. The watch looks tasty. We like watches. Don't we like watches?'

His thick-set friend nodded.

The Droids in the Zones Often Revealed Their Inner Machinery

Renyke lifted two hands in bionic mode and with lightning speed, smashed the droids' heads together. Cogs crushed and whirred and they both hit the floor as the third droid stepped back.

Another man approaches.

...Human, 48, ID unknown....

The man lifts his hands in peace.

'Duuuuude, we got no ishy here. No ishy. just data. A misunderstanding innit.'

Renyke took a weapon from his coat and pointed it at the Banker and the droid who was already backing up. It was an army-issue laser bolt-gun that would take out the whole room and anyone in it.
He would prefer not to use it.

The banker backed off with his hands still in the air.

Renyke reversed his way towards the door watching the room through the 360-degree viewfinder which was hidden by his hair.

There was a bag on the counter which he grabbed. It was heavy and cumbersome. The Banker protested. 'Not the whole bag man ......I got bills to pay!"

Renyke pulled out a handful of the contents and threw the bag on the floor. He didn't need it all, enough to get some kind of vehicle to get him to Redact. The last thing he wanted was a gang of stupid droids after him in this Hell hole.

'You got some neat tools man, we could use you at the bank!' The banker was yelling as Renyke took his exit.

The female guide was waiting outside and ran after Renyke who was making haste.

The robodog was waiting too and followed obediently. Mabeline sat on Renykes shoulder glad that things had died down.

'Go to Hell!' said Renyke counting the pouch of G-bits.

'We already in Hell Soldier Man,' cackled the woman.

Back on the main street Flex runs up.

'I need a vehicle Flex, something to get me to where I am going,' sad Renyke.

'Yes, yes , yes Mr. Leather Man, where you going is where I'm going. Let's find a veee-hicle. Jerome, he is the car man, he got cars, and bikes and scoots..... and copters, and airships so they say.'

'Take me to Jerome,' said Renyke.
