Let's go Swimming is from the Book of Immersion Volume 2.
hey guys welcome to music by Telltale Club so this track is it goes it's an accompanying track for my the book of immersion which is an online book um I wanted to play around really with uh something that was a bit formulaic but an unusual formula and I appreciate the beauty of a chorus but I didn't want to write a pop song in the sense that you know you have that kind of verse Verse Chorus Verse Chorus key change chorus do you know what I mean I just find it a bit Bernard of course it's a definition of pop music isn't it but I wanted to do something very different that went with my footage um but I really like this idea of exploring unusual key changes but I I ended up doing a less unusual key change um so I think I went from D sharp major to a minor which is standard actually but I did play around a bit with um some accidentals uh just for effect because I really like putting in some slightly Jazzy accidentals especially on the piano when I'm playing the piano and it just adds real tension actually and I like that about jazz it's my biggest thing that you can be much more experimental and and people will suffer it um because they won't suffer it in pop music of course um so I I came up with my chorus as it were which was just a line let's go swimming and I put that through the whole piece it's quite a short piece it's only three minutes but I wanted that to be the chorus but the chorus to play a lot like a thread and that worked really really well for video footage um especially something like let's go swimming let's do anything you know let's and a verb because it's very active isn't it so if you called something just swimming it would be very nice but it's less active so I wanted something very active because erinic my character from The Book of immersion has been thrown into the sea and he has he's having this rebirth and he meets the slave children and the slaves who are thrown over um the ships the British and I mean slavery is a worldwide problem but but I'm a British person and you know I'm concerned that all that stuff is washed away um especially with the queen dying and there was so much uh Commonwealth stuff and just felt really revolted by it so um I know because I'm really interested in afrofuturism as well and this idea that babies thrown into the water became other beings that were powerful um and then their mothers were thrown in if they you know weren't fit to work or whatever if they had any problems after the childbirth quite often they're thrown over just because they were pregnant and uh you know I like the idea because it's a horrific idea isn't it but I like the idea of um what what a mother would say to a baby if they'd been thrown over I'm gonna I'm gonna cry in a minute because it's so emotional and I just thought about saying let's go swimming where it'll be beautiful and we'll never grow old I really really like that so um oh gosh I can't believe I'm crying very emotional so I I was going to call this water babies but um I I it was too childlike um and immersion is a grown-up story it's it's not a toddler story or a Nursery Rhyme or a nursery age story so I I wanted to shift that up I wanted to make sure everybody knows it's it's sort of adult and I was playing around with designs for the record cover as well and using babies on record covers is it's Risky Business these days so even you know using my AI which I use a lot for my record covers um this idea of babies was as just two in a world where there's so much low-hanging fruit on the internet you know disgusting people I just thought no not happy with that either so I'm calling it I'm calling it let's go swimming instead and I've made a beautiful piece of artwork and if you're interested in what I how I create I think of the picture that I want I put it into my AI my AI produces 10 or 20 different images I don't bother tweaking the instructions lots of people do but I take my favorite that the machine has given me and then I take it into procreate and I use a pencil a digital pencil um or paint or whatever it's a digital pen and then because I'm you know I'm a trained artist I'm a trained Portrait Painter so I can I can kind of do that so it's Pro my software is mid journey and procreate if you're interested in that and well let's just play it shall we so I've got my keychains which I love I love this keychain so much and it's a sideways key change isn't it just go going from um D sharp they call it D sharp major which is so annoying on software but it's actually um E flat isn't it it's E flat it's the same thing for us but we're talking Flats if we're classically trained so Z flat major and then sideways to C minor and I I loved it I absolutely loved that key change and it's something I'm going to use again and because what I did with the key change as well is I completely changed the speed I double sped the backing track and my piano and I play you know you can do these once you've got the chords in the notes you can do this uh up and down the piano it makes a really interesting sort of watery it's Fountain sound I found um so that was really good so I did three things all at once I changed the key I changed the tempo um and I changed the instrumentation and I I changed the style of the lyric as well and I love it so much and I think it really really works it's going to be wonderful for my film so I'm going to make the film in a few days the film is made by my AI and all this work that my AI does which would just be put in the bin so rather than throwing them away I sort of construct this kind of trippy films out of these bizarre pictures you know it's strange weird slightly alien pictures that it comes up with um hundreds of them and and I just put those into the video track and then put the video on top so I really like doing that as well I think it's quite stylized it's creating a kind of style for The Telltale Club as well which I love so without further Ado um let's play it and I
