Work in progress for the Vapor Punk Exhibition
The Tale Teller Club is now an entirely digital experience and the artworks have followed the in-house trend.
My artist studio here at Royal Clarence UK, has never looked so clean.
I do miss paint and especially the smell of oils and varnish and feel sure that I will return to more primitive methods in the new year.
But for now, the sketchbooks are all digital to and the experiments are stacked in messy files all around the desktop.
Suddenly though the habits of the traditional artist are not translating into the digital facility. The stacks of dog-eared paper scrawled with experimental marks had their own energy and reminded one of all the work.
The digital studio, being hidden away, serves only to let us believe we have been idle!
I have a decade of work I cannot see unless I open up an external hard drive.
Some days I just check it really happened because some days I actually wonder if there is anything to show for those all-night obsessive insular musings. that idea I had that would be the next big thing.
I am still on a journey to work out how to display and share my back catalogue.
But I have launched the tee shop and a lot of the designs will feature there and serve as that reminder that I have been working like a Trojan after all.
The video above features a cool version of this classic Christmas track, Silent Night, made even more interesting by Vapor Punk visuals.
I am doing one each day for the advent calendar (which we had to remove as it was causing site issues) but am very much in the mood to do something a bit more exciting tomorrow with some found sound and sampling.
This one lies somewhere between kids' music and lift music (which I am a massive fan of at the moment) which I think is a very underrated genre.
The visuals are part of the Vapor Punk aesthetic which is all about finding digital scraps and making artworks out of them.
This latest in the Christmas series of songs by the Tale Teller Club is a feast of mesmerizing color and repetitive motion allowing the viewer to let go of any narrative and embrace the sounds.
This video will be part of the upcoming exhibition at the Tale Teller Club Kunstmatrix show.
The music starts off in pretty standard traditional piano form and morphs halfway through to something more otherworldly.
